Matching the Machine to the Site
On residential work, access decides more than raw size does. A compact track machine fits through a gate and turns inside a back yard without taking the lawn with it. Open ground, deeper cuts and larger sites call for something with more reach.
We size the equipment to the site rather than the other way round, which in practice means your property sees the smallest machine that can actually do the job. That is usually the difference between a yard that needs a little repair afterwards and one that needs re-doing.
Clearing Before the Dig
Site work often starts with what’s in the way. We clear brush and undergrowth, and take out small trees and stumps where they sit in the footprint of what’s being built.
This is site preparation rather than tree service — if you have a large tree that needs to come down on its own account, that’s a job for a tree company and we’ll say so.
What Happens to the Dirt
This is the question people forget to ask until there’s a pile of it in the driveway. Spoil is your call: we can haul it off, or leave it on site where it’s useful.
Plenty of jobs benefit from keeping it — filling a low corner, building up a berm, backfilling behind a wall. Moving dirt twice costs money, so if it can be used where it already is, we’ll tell you.
Excavation Is Usually Step One, Not the Whole Job
Most of the time nobody wants excavation on its own — they want a patio, a driveway, a wall, or a yard that stops flooding, and the digging is how that starts.
Because we also do the drainage, the concrete and the retaining walls, the grading gets done with the finished result in mind. Water is planned for before the slab goes down, not diagnosed afterwards.

Will your equipment tear up my yard?
We size the machine to the access rather than the job, so your property sees the smallest machine that can do the work. Some repair to the immediate work area is normal; the rest of the lawn should not be part of it.
Do you haul the dirt away?
That is your call. We can haul spoil off, or leave it on site where it is useful — filling a low corner, building a berm, or backfilling behind a wall. Moving dirt twice costs money.
Do you clear trees?

Do I need excavation, or just grading?
